Yesterday, I went to the races at Royal Ascot and I was mesmerised by the whole spectacle…
I love people-watching and this was a perfect opportunity to check out all the different hats, fascinators and dresses worn by the ladies at the event.
We were in the Grandstand and little did I know, but for this area they’ve brought in a new dress code, whereby ladies now need to wear a hat, headpiece or fascinator.
When we last visited a couple of years ago, I’d decided not to wear a hat and I thought it would be ok not to this time…
As we approached the entrance to the Grandstand, I was asked if I would wear a fascinator that a lovely lady drew out of a huge basket which she was carrying.
There wasn’t a charge and it even matched the colour of my outfit, but ladies…be warned.
If you’re going to Ascot this week, make sure you’re aware of the dress code of the area you’ll be visiting. You can find all the details on the Ascot website.
So, if it now means that you need to pop out this lunchtime on the hunt for something to wear, I thought I’d provide you with some inspiration…with both a luxury and a budget option.
