A visit to The Medicine Garden in Cobham in Surrey

One of my favourite places to meet friends for coffee locally is The Medicine Garden.

It’s a tranquil haven just a few minutes’ drive from the centre of Cobham in Surrey.

Today’s blog post features photos from a recent visit where we had blue sky, sunshine and rain within the space of an hour!

I love the beautiful Victorian walled garden which you walk through from the car park.  And at this time of year, the flower beds are full of poppies and alliums.

Located in a recently renovated glasshouse in the courtyard, they have a lovely and very stylish cafe called the Hothouse Cafe.

If the weather’s fine, there’s lots of seating outside on the decking in the main garden, with awnings for shade. And it’s the perfect place to take children, as they can play in the sand pit and run around on the grass.

As well as the cafe which has recently launched a new menu, there’s a really wide range of things to see and do whilst you’re there.

Top of my list, every time I visit, is their Garden Shop, which has just relocated to an old potting shed. And outside, they have a selection of plants on sale too.

For food from local producers, there’s a farm shop called The Larder which sells, amongst other things, delicious fudge.

For those who’d like a little TLC, there’s a Treatment Room which offers therapies including reflexology, aromatherapy and holistic massage.  Plus they have morning boot camps, yoga and Tai Chi classes in the main garden.

Within the Courtyard Community, there are also various independent companies. These include Make Me Workshops which run craft and lifestyle workshops, Artefacts which sells antique and vintage garden-related items, and a new gallery full of work from local artists.

The Medicine Garden also regularly holds events including food festivals, concerts and art festivals.  Later this year, they’ll be holding an End of Summer Party, Halloween Party, Christmas Market and Santa’s Grotto.

If you’d like to read more about the story behind The Medicine Garden, they’ve put together an e-book.

And if you’d like to keep up-to-date with their news, they’re on Facebook. And The Larder has a blog and is on Twitter.

I highly recommend a visit if you’re in the Surrey area…
