The winner of the Conceptual Gardens category at this year’s RHS Hampton Court Palace Flower Show was ‘Light at the End of the Tunnel’.
Constructed by Landscaping Solutions, it was designed by Matthew Childs and is a garden about recovery and hope.
It has been inspired by Matthew’s experiences after being injured in the bombing at Edgware Station in July 2005.
His garden takes you on a journey from a narrow opening into a dark tunnel and then out into the light, where there is colourful planting.
Gypsophila paniculata, Salvia nemorosa ‘Caradonna’ and Astrantia ‘Buckland’ were all featured, together with a variety of grasses and ferns.
Here are some more images…

Many congratulations to Matthew. If you’d like to keep up-to-date with his news, he’s on Twitter and has a blog.
Lastly for today, I’ll be featuring the winner of the Low Cost High Impact Gardens category shortly.
