I returned last night from a long weekend in the beautiful county of Devon, where I grew up…
It was the first time this year that I’ve had a proper break…and it’s done me the ‘world of good’.
I made sure that I’d written all my blog posts in advance and scheduled everything in Twitter and Facebook, so that I could try and switch off.
It really helped to have a change of scenery, a break in my normal routine, visit places with fond memories and discover new places too…
And it was a chance to catch up with my family, who still live in this part of the world.
I thought I’d share some images with you of where I went, starting off above and below with the Barbican in Plymouth, where I used to rent a flat.
And on Saturday, we had a delicious lunch at the River Cottage Canteen & Deli in Royal William Yard in Plymouth.
The trigger for my last minute escape?
Well, it was the friendly advice of my doctor, who I visited as I’d developed a nasty rash a couple of weeks ago. Thankfully, by taking a course of strong antihistamines, it’s now disappeared.
After the doctor had asked me if I was stressed at the moment (we’re now in Week 18 of having a kitchen extension built!) and if there was a lot of dust around at the moment (yes!), he suggested that it might be a good idea if I considered a holiday…
So, whilst my husband was away on a cycling break, I took the train down to the South West and stayed with my mum…slept lots, ate well and chilled out.
And I’ve come back refreshed and revitalised!
I highly recommend getting away from it all, even if it’s just for a few days.
So, when was the last time that you stepped off the hamster wheel? And have you got any plans in place to escape and recharge over the summer?
I’ll be disappearing down to Devon again for a week…but will make sure that new blog posts appear on Flowerona every day whilst I’m away!
