3 reasons why you should appear on your Instagram Grid and some photography tips can be found in today’s blog post. Now, I’m sure there are some of you who are quaking in your boots, when I suggest that you feature photos of yourself on your Instagram account? So, here are three reasons, which I hope will help to convince you of the benefits of ‘being brave’ and coming into the floral spotlight.
1. PEOPLE BUY FROM PEOPLE
Before someone buys from you, they usually need to have seven touchpoints with your business. That means, seven different types of communication, be it an Instagram post, email, phone call, blog post, letter, etc. Only then will they start to know, like and trust you…and ultimately buy from you. By posting a photo of yourself, you’re giving an insight into the real person behind your Instagram account and your company name. You’re giving potential customers a chance to get to know you.
2. BECOME RECOGNISABLE
By showing your face or you in action, it helps to break down the barriers between you and your clients. As soon as someone meets you for the first time, they’ll instantly recognise you. Just think how wonderful that would feel for a bride-to-be planning her big day when she meets you at the initial consultation? Or as is currently the case, talks to you on Zoom?
3. IT’S A SOCIAL MEDIA APP
We’re social creatures by nature. And we want to connect with other people. When the person normally behind the camera appears in front of it, your followers can feel more of a connection. They’re more likely to engage, comment and like your photo (which plays right into the arms of the dreaded Instagram algorithm, in a positive way!), especially if you’ve given a personal insight. So, be sociable.
And if you need a few photography tips…
- Enlist the help of a friend who owns a digital camera and ask them to take some shots of you.
- Alternatively, use the self-timer on your camera/phone and take as many photos as you wish.
- Ideally have your image taken in natural light.
- Choose a simple, uncluttered background.
