Today in Holland, they’re celebrating National Tulip Day. So, in its honour, I thought I’d share with you seven simple ways to arrange tulips in your home. A clear glass tank vase, like this very budget friendly one from IKEA, is perfect for tulips. Its straight sides help them to stand upright, as they do have tendency to lean towards the light.
Or how about jam jars, known as mason jars in the States? Use three, and place them down the centre of a table to make a real statement.
If you’d prefer not to see the tulip stems, choose a container that isn’t transparent, like a metal vase or an opaque vase.
Feeling adventurous? You may like to try this way of displaying your tulips. Use a tall glass cylinder vase, filled almost to the top with water to give it weight, and then balance the tulips in the neck of the vase.
For a more rustic look, you could use tin cans…
Or for a stylish look, place the tulips inside a narrow glass cylinder vase…another way to ensure that the stems stay straight.
Last, but not least, use glass bottles…either displayed individually or in groups.
These are just a few ideas of easy ways to arrange this popular spring flower in your home. You could also consider using teacups, a jug, teapot or goldfish bowl! Bear in mind that tulips continue to grow when they’re in water, so you may like to trim them every couple of days.
If you’re out and about today, why not buy some tulips to bring a little touch of spring into your home?
