Today, I’d like to share with you some images of a beautiful arrangement made by the very talented florist, Nicole Liew. Nicole has a wonderful shop called The White Orchid in Weybridge, Surrey.
Back in 2005, I started as a Saturday girl in Nicole’s shop when she was based in Esher.
I learnt SO much from her, from spiralling my hand-tieds the opposite way to convention, to combining colours and textures, and recognising the benefit of having certain processes for tasks, which had to be repeated on a regular basis.
Oh, and most importantly, really making sure that I kept my fingers away from the sharp scissor blades when I was cutting stems…it didn’t take me too long to take on that piece of advice after a few painful mishaps!
I was always asking her the names of the flowers and it was at The White Orchid, that I discovered Viburnum opulus ‘Roseum’, also known as Guelder Rose or Snowball , (top right of the image below).
The colours in Nicole’s arrangement work so well together. And I love the vintage pink carnation!
I hope you enjoy the images and have a lovely Friday and restful weekend.
P.S. This was a very unexpected present from my husband who was away last week when it was our wedding anniversary. Receiving flowers as a complete surprise really made my day very special…it’s so easy to make us ladies happy, gentlemen! Hint, hint…

I am glad you like the bouquet and it is always interesting to observe what others see in a bouquet. Creating a hand-tied is really like painting a picture. I especially seek out the colours that go with a particular flower and in this case the new vintage carnation (have not seen it for weeks now!) and the tulip with the ‘hand-torn linen effect’ fringe. The skimmia and the burgundy dille really pulled it together.
You must be having fun with your camera. Love the images!
Thank you Nicole. I’ve always thought that your arrangements were like ‘pieces of art’! It’s also a phrase which Ching used recently when describing an arrangement you created for one of her friends…
And yes, I’m loving my new camera! I’m so pleased that you like the images. 🙂
These flowers are just exquisite! I especially like the snowball rose and the vintage carnation. The arrangement is very stylish as are the photos. Floral design really is an art form!
