‘Beautifully simple arrangements for every room in the house’ is the subtitle of florist Jane Packer‘s latest book, ‘At Home with Flowers’ and it really does live up to this statement.
Her book is ideal for absolute beginners to floristry, but also will inspire experienced florists. Plus I’ve already recommended it to stylists who work on magazine shoots and adverts.
What I love about Jane’s book is that the designs are very simple and accessible. Anyone can make these arrangements…
Most of them feature masses of one single type of flower, either grouped all in one vase or in individual containers.
The book takes you through each room in your house – hallways, living rooms, kitchens and dining spaces, bedrooms and bathrooms – and gives you ideas about how to decorate these spaces with flowers.
There’s also a section on the important basics, including choosing flowers, conditioning and caring for them.
Personally, I loved seeing all the amazing containers which Jane used to complement both the flowers and the individual rooms. She gives advice on building up your own ‘vase and container library’ in varying shapes and colours, to create arrangements of different sizes and styles.
Featured below is just a selection of pages from the book with stunning photography by Catherine Gratwicke.
Jane’s book would make an ideal gift for flower-lovers. I know it may be a little bit early, but dare I suggest putting it on your Christmas list….?
