A ‘heavenly’ book bursting full of home decor inspiration is how I would describe Rachel Ashwell‘s new book, Couture Prairie and Flea Market Treasures…
I was very lucky to receive a review copy recently and I’m delighted today to share some images from it with you…
Born in Cambridge in England, Rachel is an author, designer and entrepreneur. She founded the iconic brand known as Shabby Chic in 1989 and has stores in New York, Texas, Los Angeles, San Francisco and London.
Now based in Los Angeles, whilst sourcing treasures for her stores at the Round Top antique markets in Texas, Rachel stayed at a B&B called The Outpost, which just happened to be up for sale.
Having had a life-long dream of owning a hotel and to live on a farm setting, she decided to buy it.
Rachel wanted to make The Outpost into ‘a haven of inspiration and creativity where people could shop for treasures, celebrate meaningful events or just enjoy a momentary getaway. So The Prairie by Rachel Ashwell was born’.
The Prairie is made up of five beautiful properties and Rachel’s new book takes you through each one…all decorated in her signature pastels, florals and shabby chic style.
Rachel says: ‘Flowers are truly like oxygen to me and absolutely intrinsic to my style. My favourites are larkspur, delphiniums, lisianthus, hydrangeas, stocks, roses, and more roses…’
Below are just a few images from this beautiful book…
You can see The Prairie come to life in this short video below, where Rachel explains more about the whole concept…
She says that by staying at her B&B in the heart of cowboy country, guests can ‘test drive’ her products, including sofas and bedding.
They can then decide if they’d like to buy them to furnish their own home…what a unique idea!
Doesn’t watching the video make you just want to go and stay there?! It does me…
But in the meantime, I’ll happily escape into the pages of Rachel’s book.
Couture Prairie and Flea Market Treasures by Rachel Ashwell is published by CICO Books and is available from Ryland Peters & Small.
