A perfect floristry book to put on your Christmas list or buy for a friend or relative who loves floral design is the new book by Olivier Dupon. Entitled ‘Floral Contemporary: The Renaissance of Flower Design’, it features the work of 38 very talented international florists. Together with a background piece on each florist, there are stunning images showcasing their designs. What makes the book so special is the wide array of different styles from around the world. UK contributors include Kally Ellis of McQueens who created the arrangement above, Lotte & Bloom, The Flower Appreciation Society and Rebecca Louise Law.
Olivier says: “This book has been conceived from the floral artists’ perspective, as homage to their inspirational works. You will not find any methodological tips on how to make an arrangement, nor encyclopedic information on types of flowers. This is first and foremost a showcase for some of today’s great floral makers, confirming that contemporary floral art comes in all shapes and guises, whether carried out by traditionalists, aficionados of the rustic style, or conceptual artists. What unites the makers is that each is committed to a new kind of poetic scripture, and every one of their works is a stunning, living sculpture.”
Here is just a small selection from the 300 images in the book.
