If you’re looking for floral inspiration with an abundance of bold, colourful blooms, then Paula Pryke’s new book, ‘Floristry now‘ is a must. It’s going to be released in the UK this coming Thursday, 16th February. And today I’m delighted to feature a preview plus a giveaway!
The book is a comprehensive guide on all aspects of flower design and its intention is to inspire and inform. Starting with a ‘Taking inspiration’ section, Paula shares a personal insight into her influences – nature, art and design, and trends. Shape, texture, scale and colour are discussed in ‘Interpreting design’, before four different floristry styles are featured.
Then it’s the turn of colour…white, pink, yellow, blue, red, burgundy, peach and brown are showcased with example of flowers and floral designs in each palette. And if you need help with seasonal availability of blooms, then head to the ‘Seasonal palettes’ part.
All of these chapters set the foundation for the remainder of the book, ‘Working with flowers’. And this is divided into Muse flowers, Trend flowers, Flower-shop favourites, Garden favourites, Stems and foliage, and Tools and Equipment. You’ll also find step-by-step guides including how to make a wired bridal bouquet, a natural basket and a daisy table centre.
Here are just a few examples of the stunning designs, which Paula has created for ‘Floristry now’…
