There are some extremely talented people in the floristry industry…and Wendy Andrade is one of them.
I was delighted to receive a review copy of her book ‘Fresh Floral Jewelry’ and today’s blog post features a few pages from it.
Wendy is an international floral designer with a wealth of floristry experience. She has not only received a Gold Medal for NAFAS (National Association of Flower Arranging Societies) at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, but also two Silver Gilt awards.
She’s worked in many amazing places throughout the UK and the USA, including the Lord Mayor’s Show in London, the Philadelphia Flower Show, Pasadena Rose Parade and the Academy Awards.
Wendy specialises in floral jewellery…hand-made intricate designs interlaced with fresh flowers and foliage.
Her creations can be worn as an accessory to enhance a wedding outfit, prom dress or ball gown…or to adorn models at fashion shows and catwalks.
Having first learnt the art of crafting floral materials many years ago, Wendy has developed the techniques and in her book, she gives readers easy to follow instructions on how to make 32 designs.
For each season, she has created eight different pieces including necklaces, bracelets and pendants.
Here are a few examples…
And here’s a step-by-step of a beaded garland design made using bullion wire, metallic wire, beads, a florette buckle and Ornithogalum arabicum.
Isn’t it beautiful? So detailed…
If you’d like to see more of Wendy’s designs, signed copies of her book, ‘Fresh Floral Jewelry’ are available from her website.
It’s a perfect read for floral designers, florists, flower arrangers, competitors, hobbyists and anyone who has a love of flowers and art!
Next year, Wendy will be holding floral design and floral jewellery workshops and details will be available on her website.
