When I was umming and ahhing about what to grow in our garden earlier this year, I happened to be chatting to one of the members of the dbcollective group of bloggers I belong to. And Jenny from Design Trends recommended Cosmos.
So I ordered the Cosmos Collection from Sarah Raven‘s website, which consisted of five Cosmos bipinnatus ‘Purity’ seedlings and five Cosmos bipinnatus ‘Dazzler’ seedlings. Both plants have large, open, buttercup-like flowers with delicate, feathery foliage.
When they arrived, the seedlings were only about 5 cm tall, but now…oh my goodness…some of them are taller than me! I’m so pleased that I bought them as they’ve really brightened up a new flowerbed and give me masses of flowers, which means I don’t feel guilty about cutting them and bringing them inside to put on the kitchen table.
The only care they need is staking and regular deadheading. Apparently, they flower until November, which is great to hear! And towards the end of the flowering season, if I leave a few seed-heads to ripen, they’ll self-seed.
So, I’d definitely recommend Cosmos for your garden next year and here are just a few photos from my garden this week, when the weather was behaving itself…
P.S. Have you noticed that you can go through to Sarah Raven’s website via a link on my home page now?
