Continuing the Garden Flowers theme today, this afternoon’s blog post features Cottage Garden Perennials from You Garden, an online garden centre.
You may recognise their name from this blog post, as they are the company responsible for selling the rose bushes which were used to create the Victory Bouquets for the London Olympics and Paralympics 2012.
Hellebores, which are shown above, are one of my favourite winter garden flowers…and they also can be found as a cut flower in some florists’ shops.
When the blooms are growing on the plant, their heads can tend to hang down, making it a little difficult to see the full beauty of the flower. So a great way to display them in your home, is to lay the heads together in a shallow dish…stunning!
Lots of people find my blog post about Agapanthus when they’re searching for information on the internet about this popular flower.
The variety below is called ‘Bluestorm’ and it’s a compact variety which is perfect for patio pots.
Very popular as a cut flower are Gerberas and you can now grow your own.
This variety, called Gerbera Garvinea has been specially bred here in the UK to happily grow outdoors at temperatures as low as -5º.
Delphiniums are such elegant flowers, adding colour and height to borders. This particular variety is called ‘Pacific Giant’.
And last but not least, another of my favourite garden flowers…Primula Auricula.
As for a little bit more information about You Garden…the company is run by three horticulturalists, who have spent several decades working in the nursery industry.
Their ethos is ‘gardening for everyone’ and many of their plants can be grown on decking, balconies and small patios.
As well as selling these perennials, they also sell other easy-to-grow plants and fruit.
