What a treat I have for you today! Writing Flowerona, it’s been such a joy to follow the career of the very talented floral designer Joseph Massie. And I was delighted to hear from Joe recently when he told me all about his latest project…to create a dress made entirely from fresh flowers for Touchwood, a Midlands leisure and retail centre. He kindly sent me some photos of his design to share with you today.
Unveiled by Rosie Fortescue of TV programme Made in Chelsea, the dress was on show last week at Touchwood, to coincide with Chelsea Week. Joe said: “It’s always a great pleasure and privilege to collaborate with brands on installations ~ especially during Chelsea week, when there is such a wonderful abundance of gorgeous floral materials to work with and the whole country is talking about flowers. With this piece, we’re focusing on a luxurious riot of both colour and texture ~ combining brightly contrasting hues against a palette of nudes, creams and pale blues.”
Here are some more pictures below, including ones of Joe and Rosie…
Isn’t the dress just stunning? Such a wonderful combination of colours and blooms! A collective of growers, under the luxury LM Flower Fashion banner, sponsored Joe’s design. There were Phalaenopsis orchids from Walter Grootscholten, Vanda orchids from Anco Pure Vanda, Chrysanthemums from Zentoo Chrysanthemums, Sweet Avalanche and Pearl Avalanche roses from Meijer Roses, plus Gloriosa, Eryngiums, Clematis and Asclepias from Marginpar.
