I was a child of the 70s and growing up I remember my mum and grandmother having houseplants dotted about the home. I was fascinated seeing spider plants create little baby spider plants and I loved the Maidenhair fern which my grandmother kept in her porch.
With the 70s influence on fashion at the moment and the return to retro, houseplants are making a welcome comeback. And today’s blog post features lots of houseplant inspiration…not only showing you some of the many different types, but also the kind of containers you could put them in. Oh…and there are some bulbs too!
All these beautiful photos are from a Flower Council of Holland Press Event that I attended earlier in the year. I fell in love with the Boston ferns there and promptly bought two from our local garden centre!
So, if you’re a florist looking for ideas of which houseplants to stock in your shop and what types of containers to place them in, I hope today’s blog post has inspired you. And if you’re not a florist, I hope the post encourages you to pop a houseplant in your basket, the next time you’re out shopping. Perhaps, start with very easy plants to grow, like succulents? For example, a Money Plant (Crassula ovata) or Echeveria.
P.S. If you’d like some more houseplant inspiration, do check out my Houseplant of the Month blog posts.
