In this week’s Florist Friday blog post, I’d like to share with you this stunning floral dress created by floral artist Joseph Massie for Arlene Phillips. Arlene wore it when she recently attended the National Television Awards.
Beautiful purple, lilac, pale pink and white blooms were used to adorn the gown. And they’d been specifically selected as flowers which are used for homeopathic remedies. Included were clematis, roses, hydrangeas, African violets, chrysanthemums, arabicum, hyacinths and jasmine.
Arlene and Joseph were lending their support to a campaign launched by eleven homeopathic charities and associations, including the British Homeopathic Association (BHA) and the Homeopathy Action Trust (HAT). The campaign aims to raise awareness of homeopathy and the organisation’s useful and informative website: www.findahomeopath.org. ??
Months of work have gone into designing and making the dress, with Joseph and his team spending over 100 hours painstakingly attaching each petal onto the fabric. Joseph commented: “It was such a pleasure to collaborate with these two leading homeopathic charities to create such a fabulous piece of floral couture for Arlene to wear at the NTA. It was a really wonderfully creative project to design a piece of couture that was both light and elegant, but also able to hold an array of beautiful blooms. Floral couture has always been a big part of my practice and to work with these charities to promote such a good cause was a real pleasure.”
And here’s Arlene wearing the dress…

P.S. Just to let you know…I’m taking some (much-needed!) time off from today and will be back next week.
