Well, I think we can safely say that here in the UK, autumn has arrived! And I so enjoyed my drive through the Surrey countryside on Thursday to visit a friend for lunch. The sun was shining and the leaves on the trees lining the roads were wonderful shades of yellow, red and orange.
My week
A little present which I’d managed to bring back from my holiday was a lovely cold…so, most of the week I stayed at home, keeping warm. I’m very pleased to say that it’s nearly disappeared and I can’t wait to be able to start going back to the gym and getting ‘out and about’.
The highlights of my week include reaching 5,000 followers on Twitter (thank you very much to everyone who’s following me!), attending the Press Event for Quintessentially Weddings‘s Atelier on Thursday evening and a new book being published.
It was so lovely to catch up with Neill Strain and Philippa Craddock at Atelier, and to see their breath-taking wedding flower designs. Plus meet Emma from Fiona Cairns, who showed me their spectacular wedding cakes, one for each season. I also spotted these beautiful flowers below, which were arranged by Juliet Graves of Thoughtful Flowers. I loved the ‘just-picked-from-an-English-country-garden’ look of Juliet’s design…
There were also these vibrant blooms by Jamie Aston. By using different shaped vases of varying heights, Jamie created such a striking display…and I hope seeing it inspires you to put together something similar in your own home, perhaps for Christmas? (There…I’ve done it…let the ‘Christmas’ word slip out and I was hoping to wait until at least the 1st of November!) Why not print out this blog post or pin this image to Pinterest, so that you can refer back to it?
I was thrilled to receive a copy of ‘The Busy Girl’s Guide to Digital Photography’ by Lorna Yabsley this week. Last year, Lorna invited me to write a Case Study for the book and it’s now been published. I think I know what I’ll be settling down to read this weekend…!

New Covent Garden Flower Market
We’ve recently seen the revival of more traditional flowers, such as carnations and dahlias. And now chrysanthemums are starting to become popular again. The chrysanthemum print been seen on the Gucci, Prada and Marni catwalks this year. And my October Product Profile Report for the Market focused on this long-lasting flower, which is fondly referred to as ‘mums’.
So, that’s my round-up of the week and I’ll be back tomorrow with Flowerona Links.
P.S. If you’re a bride-to-be living in the Surrey area, you may like to visit Bride : The Wedding Show which is taking place this weekend at Sandown Park in Esher. Florist Zita Elze will be exhibiting there and I’ll be popping in on Sunday.
