Recently, Instagram have made a change to the way photos can be displayed. In the past, the app only gave you the option of loading square images. But now, they’ve made it really simple for you to post portrait and landscape photos.
Here are the 3 easy steps:
- Take your photo using the camera on your phone, making sure to use the ‘Photo’ option.
- Upload it into Instagram (as shown in the image on the left below).
- Tap the format icon (the two arrows in a circle button in the bottom left hand corner) to change the photo from square to portrait (as shown in the image on the right below) or landscape.
Once you’ve posted the photo, the full-sized version of it will appear to all your followers, as you can see below.
And when you look at your Instagram grid, you’ll see that the photo appears as a centre-cropped square.
Speaking to florists and reading their comments on my Flowerona for Florists Facebook Group, it’s very apparent that Instagram is one of their most popular social media platforms. And it’s clear to see why. It’s visual, easy to use and a wonderful way to gain inspiration!
If you’d like to learn how to use social media to grow your floristry business, we’re holding our next Social Media for Florists workshop in London on October 20th. All the details can be found here. It would be lovely if you’d like to join us!
Rona hi – trust you are well – Instagram – my iPhone 5c doesn’t seem to have a ‘format icon’ on the screen to enable me to change photo shape – have I missed a step? or may be it doesn’t apply to this phone?? Bewildered – many thanks Pam
Hi Pam
I recommend that you make sure that you’re using the most up-to-date version of Instagram. Simply check in your Apps Store for any updates. 🙂
Best wishes
Rona
