I hope you had a lovely weekend…
Here are details of the very exciting floral event which I mentioned in yesterday’s blog post.
From June 6th-8th, a Flower Gala is taking place at Guildford Cathedral in Surrey, with a special preview evening on June 5th.
Now, I’ve not been to a flower gala before, have you? So, I’m very intrigued…
Caroline Simcox, the Events Director, very kindly provided me with the information below on what exactly is going to happen over the three days.
Over 50 Floral Arrangements in the Cathedral
By attending the gala, you’ll be able to see over 50 floral arrangements which are inspired by poetry, within the beautiful cathedral building.
Paula Pryke is the floral designer for the event. And she has been working with florists and flower arrangers from local churches, flower clubs, florists and floristry schools to transform the cathedral into a colourful garden.
Marquee
You’ll also be able to visit a marquee with a wide variety of unique and special gifts on sale.
Tickets for the Gala
A day at the gala is £8.00 per person and it will be open from 10.00am to 5.00pm, with last entry at 4.00pm.
Your ticket will also give you entry to the Rose Cafe, Cathedral Refectory and Guildford Cathedral gift shop.
Plus, you’ll be able to benefit from the free Arriva Flower Bus service which will be taking visitors to and from Guildford bus and train station to the cathedral.
Floristry Demonstrations
During the gala, there will also be an exclusive opportunity to see demonstrations by three of the UK’s most exciting floral designers:
- Robbie Honey – Thursday 6th June @ 1.00pm
- Shane Connolly – Friday 7th June @ 1.00pm
- Joe Massie – Saturday 8th June @ 1.00pm
Tickets for each demonstration are £30, which includes entry into the gala. Bear in mind though that there is limited availability.
To book tickets and for more details, simply visit the Guildford Cathedral website.
So, if you adore flowers and are looking for a lovely day out this summer, why not visit the gala?
I’m really looking forward to attending and perhaps might see you there?
P.S. On Friday, Paula announced on Twitter that the Countess of Wessex will attend the gala on June 5th!
