On Sunday, I went to Vintage 2011 on the Southbank in London and took a peek at the stands in the Vintage Marketplace.
There were lots of vintage floral dresses, crockery and accessories to see but one company really stood out for me on the Vintage High Street. And that was Horrockses Fashions who were displaying their new range of vintage-style bed linen and accessories.
So, today’s post features a few snapshots of their bed linen designs with names such as Martha, Eletta and Betty.
If you’re not familiar with the name, Horrockses Fashions, it was one of the most well-respected ready-to-wear labels in the 1940s and 1950s in Britain.
The company was best known for its colourful full-skirted dresses which were worn by royalty, celebrities and everyday girls. And some of the ladies at the show were wearing dresses made from the same material as the bed linen…as you can see in the first image!
The designs for the new collection of bed linen on display at Vintage 2011 were all adapted from the company’s original patterns. And if you’re interested in adding a vintage look to your bedroom, you’ll be able to buy the range later this month through specially selected retailers and via the Horrockses website, which is also due to launch this month.
To keep up-to-date, check out the Horrockses Fashions blog, plus they’re on Twitter and have a Facebook page.
My favourite design is Betty immediately above…I love the pretty pansy design and colour palette of red, pink and purple. Do you have a favourite?

That fourth and fifth bed are just divine! I love those headboards and I love how you find everything floral to be inspired by. It’s just fabulous!

Hi Sharon. Thank you so much for your lovely comment :-). I too love the vibrant colours in the last two designs…
I absolutely love these new bedlinens from Horrockses and have been drooling over them since I saw them in a magazine a month or two ago! I think the third one down has to be my favourite, with a hint of paisley, that is going to be popular for Autumn/Winter. Although the yellow and grey or the butterflies are close first choices too!
Hi Zoe. Aren’t they just stunning…I’m sure they’ll be a great success when they’re available to buy…very soon!
