On Instagram, you only have 7 seconds to appeal to your ideal audience the first time they come across your account. So, you want to make sure that what they see in your Profile will be so compelling that they’ll want to follow you.
Grab your phone plus a notepad and pen, and work through this checklist of nine ways to improve your Instagram account, whilst looking at your Profile on your phone. We’ll start from the top of the screen and work downwards. Make a note of any changes you’re going to implement and action them today.
Are you happy with the Username you’re known as on Instagram? E.g. @flowerona
2. PROFILE PHOTO
Critique your Profile Photo, whether it’s a photo of you, your logo or your floristry style.
If you work on your own, does your actual name appear in the Name field, as opposed to your business name? E.g. Rona Wheeldon
Do you have a Business Instagram Account, which enables you to display your Category? E.g. Florist.
Are you happy with your current Bio? Does it describe who you are and what you offer?
What’s currently in your Website field? Are you making the most of this clickable link?
Are you maximising this field? If you’re shop-based, have you entered your address?
8. LOCATION OPTIONS
Are your contact details up-to-date or do you need to make any amendments?
Are you optimising this feature and saving your Instagram Stories as Highlights? And have you created on-brand cover images for your Highlights?
By working through this checklist and refreshing your Profile, you’ll be in the very best place to improve your Instagram account and ensure that your first impression attracts your ideal clients.
INSTAGRAM FOR FLORISTS ONLINE COURSE
Improving your Instagram Profile is just one of the many areas we look at on my Instagram for Florists online course. I’ll be re-opening registration for the course this coming Monday, 15th June at 9am GMT. Registration will be open until Friday, 19th June at 5pm GMT. And then the course will start on Monday, 22nd June and run for 6 weeks.
Due to the impact of the coronavirus on the floristry industry, I’ll be continuing to offer a special £100 discount on the course price. Instead of the standard price of £297, the price will be £197. This is either payable in one full payment or two installments.
If you’d like to join us, simply sign up here to the Waiting List and you’ll be one of the first to know when registration opens. It would be lovely if you’d like to join us!
P.S. Just in case you missed it, here’s a link to my recent Instagram Hashtags & How to Research Them blog post, which you may also find of interest.
