Today’s blog post in my series of Instagram for Florists online course Success Stories features Birmingham based florist Jen Bates from In Bloom. Before we delve into her interview, let’s take a look at her amazing Instagram transformation!
Since Jen started the course, she has gained over 300 followers, a 40% increase! She’s changed her Profile Photo to a lovely picture of herself, which adds a personal touch to her Instagram account. Potential clients can now see who’s created all the beautiful designs and who they’ll be communicating with when they comment or DM Jen. She’s also started to include more white space in her Grid which helps the eye to focus and see her individual designs.
What prompted you to sign up for the course?
I had been struggling with Instagram for quite a while before signing up to the course. I knew that our potential audience range and engagement was not being maximised. And I was missing out as a result.
I also didn’t feel the aesthetic and style of my flowers was being effectively represented on my Instagram Grid. My Profile had no cohesion and flow but didn’t know how to put it right. It all felt quite overwhelming.
What did you enjoy most about the course?
The main thing I enjoyed is actually how there is tons of food for thought. It makes you view the entirety of your brand, not just your Instagram account. It has really helped me encapsulate my brand style and output which has filtered into literally every aspect of my work making everything more cohesive.
The course has also made the, sometimes, overwhelming world of social media much more manageable. Learning how to plan and strategise, thus using Instagram with a much more conscious focus has really helped me and my business.
It’s now over 5 months since you first started the course, what has been the resulting impact on your Instagram account and your business?
I now feel I have the skills to be able to use the tool that is Instagram much more effectively. My audience has grown significantly and I am also receiving more authentic engagement from followers. The aesthetic of my business is much more accurately represented and I am promoting the work I want to be creating more of. As time progresses and my style and trends evolve I will continue to use the course to facilitate and direct my Instagram content.
What do you feel you’ve gained most from taking the course?
I have certainly gained confidence and now appreciate the benefits of planning and strategising my Instagram account. My brand is much more cohesive and as a result more successful. I know if ever I need to take a little refresher all Rona’s knowledge and information is there for me to refer back to. A really useful and informative resource. Being able to compartmentalise all the aspects of Instagram and control the uses it has for your business actually feels quite empowering!
Would you recommend the course to florists and others working in the floristry industry?
Absolutely, if you ever feel flummoxed by the world of Instagram or don’t feel you are hitting the right note but not sure why, this is definitely a worthwhile course. Rona breaks down each week’s themes making them manageable and simple to navigate, but giving you essential skills, you can put to good use in all aspects of your business.
