I hope you had a lovely weekend.
Today’s blog post features stunning floral-inspired paintings from the very talented Amsterdam-based artist and designer, Mariska Meijers. And they’re certain to brighten up your Monday!
Mariska very kindly answered a few questions for me:
When did you start your business?
I started as a full-time artist in 2006 after 17 years in banking. Initially, I only exhibited my paintings but soon I was approached by a publisher who loved my decorative work.
Where do you get your floral inspiration for your designs?
My inspiration originated from my time in Singapore (1998-2001). I was still working as a banker…a crazy hectic job with a lot of travelling.
We lived in a beautiful old colonial house build by the British in the ’30s, with a tropical garden blooming all year round.
What are your plans for 2012?
Also, we have a very exciting second half of 2012 lined up with the launch of my Amsterdam store.
Do you have a favourite flower?
Magnolia and any kind of blossom. They’ve really become my trademark and can be found in all my product ranges.
I hope you’ve enjoyed seeing Mariska’s gorgeous paintings. She also has a range of lovely cushions, trays and stationery, which you can see on her website.
And Mariska’s also featured in the latest issue of Heart Home magazine showing her favourite places to visit in Amsterdam!
