I came across the beautiful watercolour illustrations of Rosalie Pryor when reading the May edition of Red magazine.
So I contacted Rosalie and she very kindly sent me these images and answered a few questions too.
When did you start illustrating and where are you based?
I started illustrating for a living in 2007 having completed a BA Hons in Illustration and I work in a studio just off Columbia Road in East London.
Where do you get your floral inspiration for your illustrations?
I’m very lucky in that I have Columbia Road Flower Market just footsteps away from where I work.
I find the market hugely inspiring on a Sunday when the street is awash with colour.
Do you use real flowers or images?
I always paint from life, which is great as it gives me the perfect excuse to fill my home with beautiful plants and flowers.
What are your plans for 2011?
I am currently working on a cook book for Orion books and developing a line of signature tea towels and notelets to be launched later in the year.
I am also very much looking forward to a trip to New York next month to visit my sister – textile designer Sophie Webb.
Do you have a favourite flower?
My favourite flower has to be the rose as it comes in so many beautiful varieties, epitomises the English beauty and was the name of my grandmother.
If you would like to see more of Rosalie’s illustrations, she has a lovely website, with lots of images of her recent commissions, limited edition prints and original watercolours.
