I absolutely adore these beautiful illustrations by the very talented, Jayne Ward.
And it was the lovely Anna Burnett from Wild Paeony who told me about Jayne at the Country Living Fair the other week.
I contacted Jayne and she very kindly answered a few questions for me: –
When did you start the business?
I trained as a designer many years ago, but have always maintained my interest in art as a hobby.
Five years ago I was invited to exhibit at a local ‘open studio’ near Henley, which was very successful and things have just snowballed since then!
Where do you get your floral inspiration for your designs?
My inspiration starts with the fabrics …my first love. I use a lot of vintage fabrics and the colours tend to start off the whole process.
I am also a great flicker – thumbing through magazines and glossy books, and doodling as I go!
What are your plans for 2011?
2011 will see me trying to push my work out to a wider audience, finding new outlets and galleries.
Do you have a favourite flower?
Tulips – I just love those clean colours next to the lime green waxy leaves!
If you’d like to see more of Jayne’s work, she has a website with a gallery and details of exhibitions she attends.
I very much look forward to seeing how her career progresses!
