When we moved to our house nearly two years ago, I was so pleased to find a magnolia tree in our front garden, as I’d always admired them.
For most of the year, it’s simply bare branches or covered in leaves. However, this month it’s at its very best…
This week, when the weather’s been so beautiful, I took a few photos and here are the results.
Magnolias grow as both trees and shrubs, with blooms ranging from white to pink and even purple.
Magnolia blossom is so fleeting that you really need to make sure you enjoy its beauty when it does appear. Before you know it, the petals have cascaded to the ground, and the leaves start to grow in earnest.
Did you know that magnolia branches are available for florists to buy at flower markets? They’re usually on sale for only a couple of weeks in the spring and make a lovely arrangement on their own in a tall container.
So when you’re out and about this weekend, keep an eye out for magnolias…and enjoy them while they’re in their full glory.
