Further Details & How to Enter
Florist of the Year 2013
Size doesn’t matter for the Florist of the Year Award, nor does the nature of the flower business.
Entrants can be any one of the thousands of high street florists, contract florists or event florists buying from the Flower Market, with workshops employing one or umpteen people.
The only entry requirement is that candidates are customers of New Covent Garden Flower Market.
What the judges are looking for is that special combination of business acumen and floristry expertise that separates one particular business from the competition.
On the online entry form, applicants are invited to tell the judges in less than 140 words about their successful business initiatives, and to showcase their floristry by submitting images with a brief description of up to 3 floristry jobs undertaken for clients this year.
Plantpeople of the Year 2013
The Plantpeople of the Year category is designed to recognise the outstanding work of the many talented interior and exterior landscapers, garden designers and gardeners, who source from the Flower Market’s specialist plant wholesalers.
The judges will be looking for that winning mix of business skills and planting expertise that sets their company apart.
It’s easy to apply. Just fill in the online entry form. Highlight in no more than 140 words your business achievements over the past year and submit photos and descriptions of up to 3 client jobs you’ve completed.
Then, round it all off tweet-style by explaining why you buy at New Covent Garden Flower Market.
Wholesaler of the Year 2013
Voting for the Wholesaler of the Year is designed to reveal customers’ personal heroes amongst New Covent Garden Flower Market’s 30 wholesalers of flowers, foliage, plants and sundries.
Whilst most of London sleeps, this dedicated band of industry experts opens for business six days a week, and always with an unbeatable, sensational range to inspire their customers. Isn’t it high time they were recognised?!
Voting online is easy. Simply go to the online entry form, click on your chosen wholesaler and tell the world in tweet format what makes that particular business so special to you.
Entries and votes close on Friday 18th October 2013.
Winners and short-listed entries will be revealed in the week beginning Monday 18th November 2013 on the New Covent Garden Flower Market website.
I’m so thrilled to have been asked to be one of the judges of the Florist of the Year and Plantpeople of the Year categories. I’m so looking forward to seeing all the entries!
The other three judges are:
- Barry Porter (Chairman of the Flower Market Tenants’ Association & co-owner of Porters Foliage)
- Caroline Marshall-Foster (Editor of The Florist magazine)
- Helen Evans (Head of Business Development at CGMA)
The judges of the Wholesaler of the Year are the customers of the Flower Market, who know their traders better than anyone.
So, if you’re a florist, interior landscaper, exterior landscaper, garden designer or gardener and are a customer of New Covent Garden Flower Market, why not enter the awards?
And please do vote for Wholesaler of the Year too!
