One of the most colourful stands at last month’s RHS Chelsea Flower Show was Interflora‘s ‘The Message’.
I was delighted to interview florist David Ragg, who I’ve featured before on Flowerona, to find out more about the design which he’d created with David Denyer.
David explained that they wanted the stand to reflect that when you send flowers via Interflora, that it’s not all about the flowers…but it’s also about the actual message you want to give, such as Happy Birthday, Congratulations or I’m sorry.
Centre stage in their contemporary stand was a solitary silver birch tree. And hanging off the branches were messages that Interflora customers had written to their loved ones, as you can see below…
The tall colourful triangular spikes in the stand were inspired by modern day architecture, and were likened to The Shard in London.
Both Davids are fans of bold colours, so a palette of predominantly cerise, purple, orange and lime were chosen for the flowers, which were supplied by Landgard. And floral foam was provided by Oasis.
With the help of Interflora florists Morgan Huth and Jo Hornsby, it took two days to build the stand…and I’m sure you’ll agree it looked stunning.
Here are a few more photos…
I absolutely loved the vibrant colours that they used and all the different textures and shapes of the flowers. But the lilac alliums really stole the show for me…
Many congratulations to Interflora and both Davids for being awarded a silver-gilt medal.
If you’d like to keep up-to-date with Interflora’s news, they’re on Facebook and Twitter, plus have a blog.
P.S. If you’d like to see David being interviewed on Sunday Brunch just before Chelsea, here’s the link. He’s on from 1 hour 24 minutes into the show.
