RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2012 – Nikki Tibbles of Wild at Heart’s Artisan Retreat

I hope you had a lovely weekend.  I still have a few more blog posts’ worth of images from last week’s RHS Chelsea Flower Show and today I’m featuring florist Nikki Tibbles of Wild at Heart‘s Artisan Retreat.

New for 2012, there were five Artisan Retreats at the show, all provided by The Malvern Collection.  Each one had been decorated by a well-known designer or artist to inspire the show’s visitors on how to create and personalise their own garden retreat.

Nikki’s design was called ‘Wild at Heart at Home’ and within it were a combination of beautiful contemporary pieces and vintage finds.

The retreat reflected all her favourite things and everything she loves to be surrounded by, such as vases filled with English garden flowers, beautiful soft furnishings in vibrant colours and gorgeous furniture by designers such as Tom Dixon.

It was lovely to see Nikki again and having stepped inside her retreat, I really didn’t want to leave. The scent within it was beautiful and it had such a feeling of calmness and tranquillity.

There were so many objects which caught my eye, from the gorgeous floral-inspired cushions created especially for the show by Karen Nicol, to the window boxes bursting full of blooms.

I loved the two cosy armchairs which looked so inviting, piled with clashing coloured cushions and throws, plus the stunning rug by Nathalie Lete.

And to make the retreat an all-season space, there was a cute little woodburner.

Also at the show, outside Nikki’s retreat was an exact replica of the amazing floral front cover which she had designed for Stylist Magazine.

2,100 roses, 200 yellow carnations and 30 punnets of moss were used to make the design, which took 16 hours to create.

Her aim was to create a place that would be ideal to read and work, plus be inspired by nature. It’s the kind of place I would absolutely love to have at the bottom of our garden…
