Over the coming days, I’ll be sharing with you images of my favourite RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2013 show gardens.
I’m going to start off with Jo Thompson‘s design for Fera called ‘Stop the Spread’, which was built by The Outdoor Room.
You may remember that I followed Jo’s journey to Chelsea last year and I also wrote about her 2013 plans last month.
The garden has been inspired by the message : our plants, trees and wildlife are under threat from pests, diseases and invasive non-native species, which could have a huge impact on our gardens, woodlands and countryside.
The first thing that struck me about Jo’s show garden yesterday was the stunning planting. I loved the combination of blue, white and yellow. (I didn’t even notice the lifeless trees!)
In particular, I adored the way that the very pale lilac-blue irises echoed the lilac colour of the Geranium ‘Rozanne’.
Here are some images of the wonderful design, including a picture of Jo with Defra Secretary of State, Owen Paterson.
The Paeonia lactiflora ‘White Wings’ were absolutely stunning too…and despite the inclement weather yesterday, they gradually started to bloom over the course of the day.
Many congratulations to Jo on being awarded a Silver Medal.
If you’d like to keep up with Jo’s news this week at Chelsea, she’s on Twitter and Facebook.
