Next today is a lovely garden at this year’s RHS Hampton Court Palace Flower Show, called ‘Preserving the Community’.
Designed by Anthea Guthrie and Nicole Burnett, it’s sponsored by Pretty Nostalgic, an independent vintage lifestyle magazine celebrating everything that’s brilliantly British.
The garden, which is in the Summer Gardens category, was constructed by Pretty Nostalgic, Chris Williams and Cath Jones.
And it’s about creating and preserving a caring, sharing community where nothing goes to waste.
There’s a preserving shed where surplus fruit and vegetables can be turned into jams, pickles and preserves. Plus there’s a dining area offering somewhere for neighbours to share their meals.
Adding colour to the design is a cutting garden, grown from surplus and donated seedlings.
I particularly loved the planting in recycled containers, including on the roof of the shed.
Here are some more images…
Many congratulations to Anthea and Nicole on winning their silver medal.
