I hope you had a lovely weekend. I read a really interesting article on Saturday in the Telegraph magazine – ‘What happened when six Telegraph writers learnt a new skill for 2014? One of the writers, Claire Cohen, went to the Covent Garden Academy of Flowers and took a three day taster floristry course. It reminded me of when I started to learn floristry and how I became totally immersed in learning all the names of the different flowers. When it came to roses, I wasn’t quite sure where to start though! There are so many different varieties, with new ones appearing all the time.
So, in today’s blog post, I thought I’d share with you some varieties of roses in the pink colour palette, which I came across when I was in Holland last November. I LOVE Guinness above, with it’s almost chocolatey-pink petals. I’ve not come across it before and spotted it on Jan Spek Rozen‘s stand. Here are a few more…
Heaven and Aqua are the first two I ever learnt when I was doing work experience. I hope you find today’s blog post useful, whether you’re studying floristry or simply would like to feel more confident about knowing rose names when you visit a florist shop.
