First off, I’ll be showing you a Christmas door wreath which Simon created. And in Part 2 later today, you’ll see how he made a table arrangement.
He’d chosen a patriotic theme of red, white and blue for his two designs…to tie in with the Royal Jubilee and London Olympics this year.
Below are step-by-step photos of how he created the wreath.
First of all, he bound moss on to a frame with reel wire. Then he wired on pieces of pine.
To decorate the wreath, he attached red Ilex berries which he’d wired in bunches.
Then to add contrasting textures, he added groups of matt and shiny red, white and blue baubles…in varying sizes.
Long white pine cones were then added. Simon said you could either use pump whitener, emulsion paint or spray paint to make them white. And when they’re still wet, you could add glitter.
To finish off the design and give wonderful impact, he added white, sparkly silk Poinsettias, together with artificial roses and a ribbon bow…which you can all see in the first image.
Simon’s wreath would certainly be perfect for Bradley Wiggins, who’s just won Sports Personality of the Year, here in the UK!
