You may remember that at the end of last month, I went to Hamburg in Germany? Well, the reason for my visit was to attend a Poinsettia Press Event, organised by Stars for Europe. The event itself took place in a fabulous old house and each room was themed around a particular fairy tale…Sleeping Beauty, Snow White and Little Red Riding Hood. The picture above and immediately below are from the Sleeping Beauty installation, which was definitely my favourite! Firstly, thank you SO much for all your lovely congratulatory messages yesterday on Flowerona, Twitter, Facebook and Instagram about my award.
I was overwhelmed by the response and am very grateful. It’s certainly a special week for me this week…winning the award and it’s my birthday today too!
I’ll be spending the day in Bath, training students at the Tallulah Rose Flower School on ‘Social Media for Florists’.

I’ve known Claire for a few years now, as a gardener. But last year she set up a cut flower farm in Surrey.

Mention gladioli to me and I instantly conjure up images of Dame Edna Everage and Morrissey from The Smiths…
‘Gladdies’, as she calls them, are Dame Edna’s signature flower.
And I used to remember watching Morrissey on Top of the Pops (ahem…showing my age!) as he danced around the stage with some stems lodged in his trouser back pocket.
Unfortunately, as a cut flower, they haven’t been everyone’s cup of tea over the past few years.
But as all things ‘vintage’ are so popular at the moment, perhaps with its old-fashioned image, it’s time that gladioli came back into fashion?… Read more
