Floristry Industry Insight – Ranunculus Season in Full Swing

Ranunculus, one of my very favourite flowers, was in abundance at New Covent Garden Flower Market on Friday! There were wraps upon wraps of not only the standard variety, but Cloni and Butterfly too. And the market was a flurry of activity, with many florists stocking up for Mother’s Day, which takes place today in the UK.

In Season at New Covent Garden Flower Market – March 2019

Butterfly ranunculus, which is currently in season, is going down an absolute storm at New Covent Garden Flower Market in London this month! And there are so many beautiful different colours to choose from, including this pretty pale pink one called Isis.

Yesterday, here in the UK, it felt so spring-like, especially in the afternoon. Whilst I was working away in my office, the sun was streaming in and I could hear the gentle chit-chat of birds outside my window. And in our garden, daffodils, hyacinths and muscari were enjoying the warmer temperature. The official start of spring this year is March 20th and not long after it, on March 30th, it’ll be Mother’s Day. Mother’s Day Course at the Covent Garden Academy of Flowers

Last month, I was invited to attend a Mother’s Day course at the Covent Garden Academy of Flowers in London.

There was a special ‘two for one’ offer, which gave people the opportunity to spend time with their mother, daughter, son or friend.

It’s such a lovely idea for a course…spending time with someone special and learning how to mark the occasion with a floral creation.

Chanel’s fragrance discovery flower stall at Covent Garden for Mother’s Day weekend

If you live in London or will be visiting this weekend, I thought you may like to know about a special flower stall which Chanel will have outside their beauty boutique in Covent Garden Piazza, from today until Sunday.

It’s a special fragrance discovery flower stall, dedicated to the blooms that they use in their fragrances.
