When I think of narcissi, there are two particular varieties which immediately spring to mind and they both have an incredible scent…Bridal Crown and Erlicheer.

Coincidentally, when I was at New Covent Garden Flower Market on Monday, I came across both. There were homegrown Bridal Crown bulbs planted in pots at L.Mills and boxes of cut Erlicheer from the Scilly Isles at Pratley. And this month, the Narcissus is the Houseplant of the Month.… Read more

After what seems like a long winter here in the UK, it’s so lovely to see spring bulbs finally emerging in our gardens, adding a very welcome pop of colour. Only yesterday, I saw splashes of yellow on roadside verges, with crocuses and daffodils in bloom. And whether they’re in borders or in pots, these annual wonders of nature are a sign that longer days and warmer weather are on their way.

Narcissus Erlicheer…with flower heads that look like beautiful miniature roses

I’m in love…with a variety of narcissi which had not really come to my attention until this week. It’s name is Erlicheer and the ones featured in today’s blog post were grown in the Scilly Isles by Matthew Rogers of J R Stideford and Son, who very kindly sent me some.

Narcissus Erlicheer is a highly scented double headed white narcissi, with multiple florets on each flower head. And their double heads make them look like beautiful miniature roses. I made this very simple ‘topiary tree’ below, by gathering the stems together to create a dome-shape with the flower heads. … Read more
