I’ll never forget the first time that I visited a Cath Kidston shop all those years ago. I was in floral heaven and was so excited to get my purchases home to add colour to our kitchen. Since then, I’ve found it very hard to walk past her shops without popping in!
As there is now such a wide variety of products available from the Cath Kidston brand, in today’s post I’m simply going to feature a small selection of their floral-inspired Home products.
This includes crockery, cushions, peg bags and the cutest egg cosy which I spotted last week in their Kingston shop. It looks even prettier in real life…I love how the little flowers cascade out of the top of the cosy!
Some of the designs shown below are from the new Autumn/Winter 2011 collection which was launched recently at Vintage 2011:
A little bit of background about Cath…with just £15,000, she started her business back in 1993 with one little shop in London’s Holland Park, where she sold vintage fabrics, wallpaper and brightly-painted furniture. She saw a gap in the market for vintage products that were pretty, bright, practical and useful.
Gradually, she began to design her own prints and products. One of the first was an ironing board cover – practical, quirky and with a distinctive floral print, it has come to epitomise the Cath Kidston look.
Her shop soon became a cult success and there are now over 40 Cath Kidston shops and concessions in the UK, two shops in the Republic of Ireland, fifteen in Japan and four in Korea.
Cath Kidston remains Creative Director of Cath Kidston Limited and was awarded an MBE for services to business in February 2010 as part of the Queen’s New Year Honours List.
P.S. By the way, they’ve got a special offer on at the moment when you order online, in that they’ve lowered their threshold for Free UK P&P from £75 to £50 for the whole of August…
