This week’s Wedding Wednesday blog post has come about as a result of an email which I received last week from a Flowerona reader.
She commented that I often feature hand-tied bridal bouquets and she wondered if I’d consider featuring other bouquet designs?
As a florist, she said that she’s often asked for shower bouquets or something a little bit different. So, this blog post is especially for Jo…
The shower bouquet design is also sometimes referred to as a cascading, trailing or waterfall bouquet.
Like a waterfall, the bouquet flows and is designed to gently cascade downwards. Larger flowers are often placed at the top of the design, graduating to smaller blooms as it tapers down.
To make the bouquet lighter for the bride to carry and to also add length, it’s very likely that all the flowers and foliage will be individually wired.
Here are just a few beautiful examples…
This style of bouquet is perfect if you’ve set your heart on a ballroom style dress with a full skirt, like Princess Diana’s below.
So, if you’re a bride-to-be and you’re looking for something different to add a real ‘wow’ factor to your special day, why not consider a shower bouquet?
Bear in mind though that if the bouquet is wired, a skilled florist would need to make it. And it’s quite a labour-intensive design, which would be reflected in its price.
But your bouquet would most certainly be a major talking point at your wedding…!
P.S. If you’d like to see some more examples of this style of bouquet, do pop over to my Cascading Bridal Bouquet pinboard on Pinterest.
