During the last week or so, two Flowerona readers have said to me that they’re amazed that I manage to fit so much into my week. Well, to be honest…so am I! And it’s now come to the crunch stage, where I need to decide what to concentrate my efforts on moving forward, as lately I’ve started to feel quite completely overwhelmed by everything.
My TV Presenting course starts again in a couple of weeks. And I’ve realised that I need to make changes to be able to continue juggling all the many different threads of Flowerona…posting blog posts and YouTube videos regularly, running the Flowerona Job Vacancies Board and Flowerona for Florists Facebook Group, freelance writing, being a Trustee of the charity The Floral Angels, speaking at events and conferences, holding 121 training sessions in person and face-to-face, and running workshops. And not forgetting, dealing with emails, using social media and all the other things that running a small business entails.
My workshop co-host Fiona also has a massive amount going on at the moment. She’s started writing her third book, is holding her own Colour Psychology for Creatives workshop in London in November and is planning on taking the workshop to New York in 2016.
Running workshops for florists, both on social media and branding, has been such an amazing experience! We’ve so enjoyed meeting everyone and we’re absolutely thrilled by the visible impact the workshops have had on the floristry community.
With our Social Media for Florists workshop taking place in three weeks time, several people have been asking me when we’re going to be holding our next one. Well…so that I can follow my heart and concentrate on really making my TV career take off, I’ve come to the decision that we won’t be holding any further Flowerona workshops until Autumn 2016 at the earliest.
Although we LOVE running them, they’re a huge undertaking. And if you’ve attended one, you’ll know how we’re ‘attention-to-detail-aholics’ and put so much time, effort and energy into each workshop to ensure that it’s a very special day for our delegates.
I’m really looking forward to seeing where my TV journey takes me. There’s lots going on behind the scenes which I hope to be able to share with you in the coming months. If my plan works out, it’ll lead to more floristry being featured on television.
And when there are challenges along the way, I find this quote helps keeping me going. And I hope you find it inspiring too…
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, ‘Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?’ Actually, who are you not to be? ”

Rona, what a lovely and inspiring quote. I’ve often wondered where your TV presenting course will take you and I’m very keen to learn more when you’re ready to share. As I enter the fifth year of running my wedding planning business I am realising what parts I enjoy and what parts I don’t enjoy. We all need to be aware of our goals, our strengths, our limitations and what challenges lie ahead. And sometimes we have to deal with the curveballs life inevitably throws in my path. I so enjoyed this post and look forward to many more.
Thank you so much Christine for your lovely comments about my blog post today! Many congratulations on entering your fifth year in business and I wish you lots of success for many more years to come. It’s still very early days with my TV presenting, but I’m really looking forward to seeing how things pan out. 🙂
I am new to your blog and must admit I have wondered how on earth you juggle everything. I am sure you are making the right decision, and I wish you well with it all. I love that quote, and am convinced that I sabotage my own success because I am afraid of it! I think helping other Florist’s is a very noble thing, but you cannot do it at the expense of your own business.
Hi Linda
Thank you very much for your lovely message! Just to clarify…the only thing I’m putting on hold for a while is the Flowerona workshops. 🙂
Everything else I mentioned will continue as usual.
Best wishes
Rona
Wishing you all the very best in all of your artistic endeavours, you inspire so many people and make the world a more beautiful place. Pleased to hear you are focussing your energies to follow your dream!
Thank you so much Michelle for your lovely message! That’s really kind of you to say… 🙂
What a superb quote, so thought provoking in every way! I also like the title of your blog and have been thinking of kick starting my blogging attempts with a very similar subject! I’ve got so much going on in my head (as a result of being a florist nearly 20 years!) but actually I can’t do everything! (not unless I wish to be 6ft under!)
I wish you every success with your tv presenting career…. Actually I can’t wait to see more ‘floristry’ on the tv, it’s about time! Best wishes, Jo. p.s, thank you so much for your Facebook page, I find it invaluable! x
Thank you so much Jo for your lovely comments! I’m really pleased to hear that you find the Flowerona for Florists Facebook Group so useful and I too can’t wait to see more floristry on TV. 🙂
